Tour de Tap-Stillwater

Saturday, August 23. The route starts and ends at Lift Bridge Brewing Company in Stillwater. I will visit Flat Earth, Tin Whiskers, Urban Growler, Bang Brewery, Bent Brewstillery, Barley John’s Brew Pub, Big Wood and return to Lift Bridge. Google maps suggests it will be about 58 miles, assuming no wrong turns. If you don’t want to ride that far, you are welcome to join anywhere along the route. I keep a pretty tight schedule. Happy Biking! Al

Pedal on the Pounds-June 29

I have led an annual family and friends ride that has been dubbed Pedal On the Pounds.

POTP’s was appropriately named because the first year it started and stopped at the Cold Spring Bakery, in addition we shared wonderful deserts at the rests stops.
This year the POTP ride is scheduled for June 29th – pre-ride photo at 8:50am.

I would like to extend an invite to the CMBC.

This is a family and friends ride with ride with treats, SAG support, maps, and route signs.
We have had 35 riders the past three years, all of varying cycling experience (for several this ride doubles their yearly mileage total).
I have two sisters that tote the goodies to each of the two rest stops and provide SAG support as needed.  We typically have a couple riders that opt out of biking the entire route and jump onboard the SAG.

I think this would be a good fit for the CMBC and would love to have a bigger ride.
Meet at the park across the street from the 400 Supper Club, 25958 Lake Road, St. Cloud, MN 56301.

Early registration ends at 8:49 on June 29th.

As always, please bring something calorie laden to share.
In addition, in lieu of an official entry fee and/or setting up our own charity, we will be supporting the CycleHealth organization.
CycleHealth’s mission: To create a new cycle of health in America, starting with the youngest generation.

My cousin’s industrious children Kristina and Kyle Swenson have supported a non-profit for years by competing in a triathlon and being perennial fundraising front runners.
Please support their efforts by following the link to their donation page: http://www.grouprev.com/kkswenson

The anticipated pace for the 33 mile route is a conversation filled 10-12mph with two planned rest stops at mile 14 and 24.
(There is a way to shave 6 miles off the first leg… shhhh, we won’t tell.)
For those wanting a bigger challenge each segment has an additional loop bringing the total distance to 50 miles.
The pace of the 50 mile riders is typically 14-16+.
There is an option of riding a 16 mile route – this is discouraged because it puts the rider at the start/stop point alone and this is meant to be a camaraderie building event.

16 mile route: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1254736

33 mile route: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1122668

50 mile route: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1122690

The last two years we have had 35 riders.  I would like to double that number this year, so invite your friends.

Tour de Tap II- Saturday, June 21

It’s time for another Tour De Tap!

This month’s tour focuses on St. Paul.

Late to implement taproom legislation, St. Paul is playing catch-up so this tour is a little short.

Included on the tour is Flat Earth Brewing, located in a couple buildings of the original Hamm’s Brewery. Flat Earth doesn’t have a taproom per se… But they will give us samples, they will give us a mini-tour, they will sell us growlers… and there happens to be city owned property adjacent to the brewery with a picnic table…

Departing Midway at 1:53 we will cover just over 20 miles and five breweries and return at 6:55. The St. Paul Saint’s first pitch is at 7:05.

I will be arriving at Midway Stadium around 1:20.

There is a possibility that I will bring some Third Street Brewery concoctions with me to Midway.
